 Stands for "Domain Name System."

Domain names serves as names for websites and other services on the Internet. However, computers access Internet devices by their IP addresses. DNS translates domain names into IP addresses, giving you access to an Internet location by its domain name.

Thanks to DNS, you can visit any website by typing the domain name, which is easier than the IP address.
